What's in here and why

  • Trader identity (sections 1–2): Under the EU E-Commerce Directive and Ireland's Electronic Commerce Regulations, an online trader must make its name, registered address, registration details and contact information, including an email address, easily and permanently accessible. The Companies Act 2014 separately requires a company's name, place of registration, CRO number and registered office to be shown on its website.
  • VAT number: Required to be displayed under EU e-commerce rules once you're VAT-registered.
  • Content responsibility (section 3): Common practice across the EU, and required in some member states as an added transparency measure. You're not legally required to name an individual under Irish law specifically, so this section can be dropped if you'd rather not, though naming a role (e.g. "Store Manager") rather than a person is a good middle ground.
  • Hosting (section 4): Standard information-society-service disclosure, and reassures customers your data sits on a substantial, EU-based host.
  • Dispute resolution (section 6): No ODR platform link here, because the EU's Online Dispute Resolution platform closed permanently on 20 July 2025, and traders no longer need to display a link to it. I've checked the CCPC's list of approved Alternative Dispute Resolution bodies in Ireland, and none currently covers general fashion and footwear retail, so there's no specific ADR scheme to name. If that changes, or if you'd like to opt into a voluntary ADR scheme, this section is where it goes.
